Local Travel Information for Visiting the Klaus Advanced Computing Building

Here is a Google map showing the Klaus Advanced  Computing Building (KACB), MARTA station, and recommended parking lots discussed below.


Rapid Transit Directions:

Use MARTA (the Atlanta subway system); a great way to get here from the airport!

  • Take the train to stop N4 (Midtown station) at 10th St.

  • Get on the Georgia Tech Trolley, which stops at the south side of the N4 Station.

If you prefer, you can catch a taxi at the MARTA station (east side).

  • The Trolley stops at the KACB Building.

Driving Directions:

Note: Visitor parking is not available at the Klaus building.  Parking recommendations are given below, after the driving directions.

From South of Atlanta (including the Atlanta Airport):

  • Exit at 10th Street/Georgia Tech (Exit 250)
  • Right on 10th Street
  • Right on Spring Street NW
  • To continue to the Physics parking lot:
  • Right on 5th Street NW
  • Continue on 5th Street over the freeway. The street changes name to Ferst Drive and curves around the baseball stadium and Klaus building.
  • Continue past the traffic light at Atlantic Drive. At the next intersection (State Street on the right), turn left into the visitor parking lot and follow the signs and instructions.
  • To continue to the TSRB parking deck:
  • Right on 5th Street NW
  • Immediately prior to crossing over the freeway, turn right on Williams Street NW, and then the next right behind the building to enter the parking deck.
  • To continue to the GLC parking deck:
  • Continue on Spring Street NW past 5th Street NW. The Georgia Tech hotel is on your right at the corner of 5th and Spring.
  • Just past the hotel on your right, at the next traffic light, is the entrance to the GT Hotel/Global Learning Center parking deck.

From North of Atlanta:

  • South on I-75 or on I-85 toward Atlanta
  • Exit at 14th/10th  Streets (Exit 250)
  • Continue past 14th Street to 10th Street.
  • Left on 10th Street
  • Right on Spring Street NW
  • To continue to the Physics parking lot:
  • Right on 5th Street NW
  • Continue on 5th Street over the freeway. The street changes name to Ferst Drive and curves around the baseball stadium and Klaus building.

Parking recommendations

There are three parking lots you can choose from (prices are not guaranteed to be up to date):

Physics visitor lot (not covered)

  • $1.00/hour, pay at a pay station with a credit card.
  • This is the closest parking lot to the KACB.It is an easy 5-minute walk from here to KACB.

Technology Square Research Building parking deck (covered parking)

  • $2/hour, $10 per day.
  • The KACB is a 10 to 12 minute walk from here. Alternatively, you can catch the Tech Trolley westbound on 5th Street (see the Google map of the area) to ride to KACB.

Global Learning Center parking deck (covered parking)

  • $1/hour for 1st 2 hours, $2/hour for next 3 hours, $10 per day.
  • The KACB is a 10 to 12 minute walk from here. Alternatively, you can catch the Tech Trolley westbound on 5th Street (see the Google map of the area) to ride to KACB.

  • And of course you can search using hotels.com or the web site of your favorite hotel chains. The zip code of GT is 30332, and the street address of KACB for mapping purposes is 266 Ferst Dr., Atlanta, GA 30332; these may help you localize the search.

Other Local Area Information

  • The closest Starbucks is in the GT Bookstore/Barnes and Noble located at the intersection of Spring and 5th streets. It is directly across the street from the Georgia Tech Hotel.
  • The GT Bookstore is located at the intersection of Spring and 5th streets; this is the same location as the Starbucks.
  • The closest MARTA (subway) station is the Midtown station. The Tech Trolley, a free bus that runs on about a 10 minute schedule most of the day, runs to the Midtown station. (Catch it in the Eastbound direction to go to the MARTA station.)
